New trustees

The Hebden Bridge Community Association (who operates the Town Hall) had its AGM on 23rd April.  We want to share our new trustee board after the trustee and officer elections:

Rachel Rickards -  Chair

Rachel brings experience of supporting small businesses and managing a creative sector workspace. She has worked for The Prince’s Trust and also as a manager for a small charity, setting up and running a business incubator in East London housing 26 businesses. More recently she has worked for the YMCA in Bradford. Her skills lie in building successful partnerships and in marketing, development and campaigning.

Paula Nickson - Vice Chair

Paula is a specialist in business innovation and improvement through partnership. Experience in the public and private sector have given her skills in connecting priorities, people and practices to achieve results that benefit all parties. Paula has a history of successful collaborations and experience of working with different sectors from social enterprise to national organisations.

Amanda Ward - Treasurer

Amanda grew up in Hebden Bridge and now lives in Todmorden. She is a qualified accountant and has worked with KPMG for over 20 years. She has spent time as an auditor and is currently the financial controller of KPMG's own audit practice in the UK. She has experience of governance, accountability, staff management as well as financial and management accounting.

Community life is a strong presence Amanda's family and her father was a Hebden Royd Councillor for over 20 years as well as mayor in 1985. He was a member of the Hebden Bridge Community Association in its very early days and they both watched with interest the development of The Town Hall and hoped for its sustainable success. Amanda still has links with Hebden Bridge being a school governor of the two infant schools and am interested in helping to create a long-term secure base for The Town Hall.

Rory Deighton - Company Secretary

Rory runs Kirklees Healthwatch, a health and social care charity, and previously managed Calderdale's network of Citizens Advice Bureaux. Rory brings experience of running medium sized charities and has a keen interest in social enterprise models.

Tamsin Curror

Tamsin has 18 years marketing and communications experience in the cultural, education and publishing sectors including 10 years at Arts Council England. She has worked with small organisations as well as on national strategies for larger organisations. Her skills include marketing, stakeholder communications and project planning.

Bob Deacon

A retired professor of social policy, Bob's skills include policy analysis and project development. He is currently Chair of the Hebden Bridge Partnership. Bob is also a Friend of the Railway station, a member of the History Society and involved in designing e-trails on the Early Radical Social Movements of the Upper Calder Valley. Bob is leading our work to restore the Town Hall's Victorian Council Offices including its historic Council Chamber.

Dai Larner

Dai has lived in Mytholmroyd since 1994 and is keen to put something back into a community and a place that has given a lot to him and his family. Dai has a passion for working with communities to make places better and bringing heritage buildings back into modern use. In the Peak District he has led the development of major heritage schemes and secured significant grant support from the Heritage Lottery Fund, as well as working with communities on asset transfers, neighbourhood plans and affordable housing.

Anna Wiseman

Having started working in Calderdale in 2014 as the Project Director for the local Cultural Destinations project, Anna has been impressed by the volume and quality of grass-roots and community led cultural activity and service provision. She believes Hebden Bridge Community Association is a perfect example of this dynamism and is at a very exciting time in its development. As such, she was keen to get involved and to work towards securing the future of the Town Hall for the benefit of the local community.

She has a wide range of experience working within large arts and heritage organisations as well as on small-scale community focused projects. Her expertise is in audience development and community engagement with cultural activity so as a Trustee she hopes to lend support to the Hebden Bridge Town Hall’s events programming. Collaboration and relationship building is fundamental to all the work she does and so she looks forward to working with different people and organisations to bring relevant skills and experience to help support the strategic goals of the Town Hall.
