July Waterfront Hall Exhibtion - Our Vibrant Valley in 1,000 Postcards

19th July - 5th August 2021

Our Waterfront Hall will be showcasing a special exhibition of 1,000 postcards designed by children and young people aged between 3 to 16 from 15 local schools and nurseries.

The postcards were distributed across Hebden Royd, and pupils invited to show ‘Our Vibrant Valley’ in any media: paintings, collage, prints, poetry, drawings, photographs, and prose. Coordinated by Marianne Hood OBE, the exhibition will be shown at Hebden Bridge Town Hall, with postcards arranged and installed by volunteers, before moving to Mytholmroyd Community Centre from Monday 9th August.

Marianne says:

“This dynamic and exciting exhibition brings together work from children whose ages range from 3 – 16 years from schools within Hebden Bridge, Cragg Vale and Mytholmroyd. They have depicted how they see where they live in a variety of different media with one thing uniting them all – an outpouring of creativity and imagination with an exuberance and freshness of perspective.”

Mayor of Hebden Royd, Cllr Rob Freeth says:

"As Mayor I am delighted to be involved in and support delivery of the Our Vibrant Valley in 1000 Postcards art exhibition for the schools. Following the challenges of flooding and the pandemic, this exhibition launches an initiative aimed at returning Hebden Royd to being the vibrant, inclusive and exciting place that we have all been proud to call our home and which has always been such an attractive area to both live and visit."

The exhibition will be at Hebden Bridge Town Hall until Thursday 5th August.
