July Exhibition - Happy Valley Pride Youth Engagement Programme

19th - 30th July 2021

Happy Valley Pride returns with a full week-long festival celebrating LGBTQIA+ life in the Calder Valley, with events in Hebden Bridge, Mytholmroyd and Todmorden

This year the theme is FUN, and there will be events for all the family, including the Big Day Out in Calder Holmes park on Saturday 30th July, where the first-ever youth pride stage will showcase emergings artists from the Valley. Alongside this, we will be showing an exhibition of artwork from children in the local community.

The Big Day Out (2021) in Calder Holmes Park

The Town Hall exhibition will be a selection of artwork from Happy Valley Pride’s youth engagement programme, led by local musician and teacher Terry Logan. The youth engagement program plays a leading role in the provision of quality creative learning for young people in the valley around LGBTQIA+ life, through both art and education.

Happy Valley Pride works closely with and supports primary and secondary school teachers and leaders to run curriculum-based creative activities, which form the annual art project that makes up this exhibition.

Education has been at the core of Happy Valley Pride’s mission since the beginning, making it a priority to educate the next generations with lessons of love and equality, helping them to learn more about the LGBTQIA+ community, anti-bullying, and the diversity of families in our valley.

The exhibition features artwork from children attending local schools and will run until Saturday 30th July.
