July Exhibition - Happy Valley Pride

Tuesday 11th July - Sunday 30th July 2023

Happy Valley Pride is excited to exhibit an installation from 23-year-old, non-binary, painter and illustrator Ashton Attz and the Happy Valley Pride Youth Engagement Programme

Happy Valley Pride presents artwork from award-winning non-binary artist Ashton Attz and local young people.

The theme ‘And THEY Lived Happily Ever After’ is represented via Ashton’s utopian vision and was originally commissioned by Trans Vegas Festival and displayed in the Feel Good Club windows in Manchester’s Northern Quarter in 2022.

Ashton’s work is colourful, bold, joyful and unapologetic. Ashton covers topics including LGBTQ+ advocacy, visibility, unity, positivity, music and mental health.

Happy Valley Pride are also displaying fantastic artwork created by children taking part in this year’s Youth Engagement Programme.

Education has been at the core of Happy Valley Pride’s mission since its inception, and Happy Valley Pride makes it a priority to educate the next generations with lessons of love and equality.

This year, they have worked with 12 schools in Calderdale to help students learn more about the LGBTQIA+ community, anti-bullying and the diversity of families in our area. Their work has been recognised by Stonewall who chose us as one of the Prides to visit in 2019. The Happy Valley Pride Youth Engagement Programme is led by Terry Logan and plays a leading role in the provision of quality creative learning for young people around LGBTQIA+ life through education and art.
