Twins raise money for Burlees House fire
Hebden Bridge twins, six-year-old Flora and Felix raised money for those affected by the Burlees House fire by holding a cake sale and selling moon rock!
The huge fire at Burlees House in the early hours of Tuesday 2nd August spread from the La Perla restaurant to the upstairs offices. At it's height, 80 fire-fighters were called to the fire, and 12 local residents were evacuated.
The building was home to several local businesses, practitioners and artists that have sadly lost their belongings and workspace.
Floral and Felix decided to help out by raising money to help out the businesses affected by the fire and held a cake sale (and moon rock sale) outside their house - which raised a whopping £78.24! The twins’ hard work was shared by local radio station BBC Leeds.
The twins took the money they raised down to the Town Hall to put with the rest of the community donations. The money will be given to Community Foundation for Calderdale, who will donate the money to projects and people in need after the fire.
