Calder Valley Community Land Trust - community-led housing
Established to help meet housing needs in our part of West Yorkshire.
CVCLT is a member-led community benefit society which has been established to help meet housing needs in our part of West Yorkshire, through direct, bottom-up, community-led housing initiatives. The idea of community-led housing is about local people playing a lasting role in solving local housing problems, creating genuinely affordable homes in ways that are difficult through current mainstream housing.
The CLT’s first development, six independent-living bungalows in Walsden, was completed in early 2020. We are now moving on to other initiatives.
CVCLT is also the vehicle through which significant local buildings and community open space can be held legally on behalf of the community. Our CLT is the legal custodian of the Fielden Hall community centre in Todmorden and is negotiating to take over the decommissioned heritage signal box in Hebden Bridge.
CVCLT is volunteer-run, with ten trustees elected by the CLT’s members (150 local people). We have charitable status.
