Out in the Valley Community Quilt - the Café

Inspired by the UK Aids Memorial Quilt, this community quilt was created by the LGBTQIA+ community in Hebden Bridge and the Calder Valley, and is now on display in the café.

This year-long project invited contributions from the unique and diverse LGBTQIA+ community and allies, aiming to unify, celebrate and commemorate friends, families and our local community in Hebden Bridge and beyond.

The quilt patches come from people of all ages and backgrounds, and feature painting, appliqué, crochet and embroidery. The art, images and positive words in this quilt shout louder than any form of hatred.

This project was completed with support and funding from Calderdale Council, Word of Mouth, Hebden Bridge Town Hall and Out in the Valley.
