TOWN HALL \ Hope Chapel
Our team at Hebden Bridge Community Association have been asked to look after Hope Baptist Chapel from 1st May 2024, in addition to running Hebden Bridge Town Hall.
Over the last fifteen years, Hope Chapel, which was built in 1857, has been transformed from a building that was on the 'at risk' register to what has become a vibrant community hub. Over £1.3m has been raised to restore the listed building and recover from three major floods. It is now used throughout the week by a wide range of community groups and the chapel space hosts a variety of music and spoken word events. Equipped with a high-quality sound system to enhance the natural acoustics, it is the largest venue of its kind in Hebden Bridge. Hope Chapel has a rich history of hosting live events, community activity and life occasions, and it is a versatile, welcoming space.
Our goal is to ensure that it's business-as-usual for existing users, whilst working on a plan to make the building financially secure for the future. We’d welcome community support for this project, if you'd like to know more or are interested in using Hope, please get in touch
