Drop-in, no need to book

Come and join our brand new weekly swing dance class, with a beautiful venue, a group of enthusiastic people, and a fabulous swing playlist!

Calder Valley Swing are now offering weekly swing dance classes. From 7.15pm an Improvers Class; and from 8.15pm a Beginners Classes. Come along and learn how to swing dance (or improve !) in a supportive and fun session led by dance teachers Kevin and Rebecca.

On the first Wednesday of each month, there will be social dancing in the Town Hall after the classes, until late.

No partner is required for the sessions, but you are welcome to arrive with a partner and remain with them throughout the class if you wish. You are encouraged to dance in your preferred role (lead or follow) regardless of gender.

The lessons will usually take place in the Waterfront Hall, a spacious accessible room with lots of ventilation.

Kevin says, “ We remain careful of the ongoing risk of Covid-19, with this in mind:

  • We are using the Town Hall’s largest space, the Waterfront Hall, to allow greater distancing. The Hall has windows which we will open to allow fresh air to circulate.

  • We will wear masks when not addressing the whole room and during close contact in the classes.

  • Hand sanitiser will be available.

  • We will encourage those arriving in a couple to stay as a couple throughout or to form a small group with others.

  • We will encourage those arriving in a group to stay in a group throughout the class.

  • We will encourage individuals to form a small group and stay in that group throughout.

  • We will encourage mask-wearing when in close contact with strangers, but we will respect the decision of individuals on mask-wearing, and ask that you do the same.”

Bring your own water bottle, which can be refilled inside the Town Hall

The sessions end around 9.15pm, when you’re invited to join the after-class social in the nearby wine bar.
