Wellbeing Workshop: Pelvic Health with Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy
Sunday 6th March 2022
2 - 5pm
Join us for our very first women’s wellbeing workshop, the first in a series provided by Northern Powerhouse Boxing Academy and part-funded by Sport England’s This Girl Can campaign.
These workshops aim to support women to stay active through addressing common issues which may reduce participation or stop women from exercising.
Wondering why you can't jump on the trampoline with the kids?
Need help with uncomfortable prolapse symptoms?
Want to be able to exercise with confidence?
Questioning what's normal and what's not when it comes to pelvic health?
Pelvic health plays a fundamental role in a woman’s wellbeing. This workshop is suitable for any woman interested in finding out more about her pelvic floor and the important role it plays throughout different stages of life.
Specialist Pelvic floor physiotherapist Katy Winters will explain the function of the pelvic floor and the critical role it can play in the immediate and long-term health, fitness and happiness of women of all ages. Katy will also lead an open and frank conversation around common concerns and what steps we can take to protect and improve our pelvic health.
The workshop will also include gentle yoga-based movement and breathing techniques led by Carla Daly Yoga. Carla will guide you in building awareness and connection to your pelvic floor and how to encourage your core to respond in a way that supports you in your everyday life. During the three-hour workshop, there will be a break with tea, coffee and cake provided.
Part-funded by Sport England's This Girl Can campaign, the workshops aim to help our community become informed, get purposeful and find solutions in a supportive environment.
Organiser Josie McNamara says, “We believe that women are their own health heroines and the ultimate advocates for their health.”
